The weekend panned out
as follows. Friday night those teams staying for the weekend arrived on the
campsite behind the Scotch Piper, Lancashires oldest pub.(In 2002 we will be
camping across the road behind the Lydiate Village Hall). Where sandwiches were
laid on to go with the exellent cask beer. We had a good session and then retired
ready for Saturdays exertions.
About 9-30am the coach arrived to take everybody to Southport town center where
we met up with the those visiting for the day. The day was spent dancing around
the town and being shown the sites. For lunch we go to the Falstaff in King
St, where they have a choice of 10 cask matured beers for about £1-60 - £1-70
a pint and excellent home cooked food for less than £3. Upon arrival back at
the Scotch Piper the pub had a barbeque laid on, and we spent the night in the
pub(surprise surprise).
Sunday morning we slowly made our way to the Botanic Gardens in Churchtown,
an area of north Southport. Where we danced and had a picnic lunch which was
laid on and then everyone drifted off home.
