"I Love Singing. Whether it's singing traditional songs with Bryony and First Principles or the comic ditties and serious songs of Les Barker with the Mrs Ackroyd Band - I love singing." (Quote from Alisons C.D. Blythe & Bonnie, Cock Robin Music CRM043 ) Alison started her vocal career in the late
sixties singing in a duo with her brother at local folk clubs. By the
mid seventies she was singing both solo and with four musicians in York.
By 1980 the all female band BRYONY was formed , a pioneering female
band of the time. By the late eighties FIRST PRINCIPLES was formed,
the line-up being Alison with Mal Waite and Chris Harvey. At almost
the same time, Les Barker invited Alison to be part of the main core
of the MRS. ACKROYD BAND with whom she is still a member. Alison and
Chris Harvey sing and play as the duo HARVEY DAVIDSON. Alison belonged
to the Jolly Fine Co.Co. and has done several recordings with the band
STRAWHEAD. Most recently UNPRINCIPLED was formed, including Mal and
Katrina Waite. Alison became a resident of the Bothy Folk Club in September
1997.Alison sings with the rock & roll band LUNCH-TIME LEGENDS as
Candy Rell. She is currently singing solo, concentrating on her main
love of Scots traditional song. |
